John Kendall Hawkins is an American ex-pat freelance journalist and poet currently residing in Oceania.

His poetry, commentary, and reviews have appeared in publications here, in Europe and in the USA, such as Cordite, Morning Star, Jerry Jazz Musician, Rain Taxi, and Rumpus. He is a regular contributor to Counterpunch magazine. He is a former columnist for the Prague Post (late 90s and mid 20s). He is a former winner of the Academy of America Poets prize (1983). He won the Deakin University Literary Award for poetry in 1998.

He has master degrees in Education, Literary Studies, Creative Writing, Applied Linguistics and TESOL. He has a graduate certificate in IT.

In addition, he is a former Microsoft systems engineer and trainer (MCSE and MCT) and a certified Cisco network designer (CCNA and CCDA).
